April 3 – 5, 2009
The Embassy of Madagascar will participate in the 3rd African Festival Yokohama 2009, organized by the African Festival Yokohama Committee to bridge the cultural difference between Africa and Japan. Guests will be able to buy African products and to enjoy African food and drink as well as various attractions, such as Traditional Cultural Drumming and Dancing, African Photo Exhibition, Lectures, African Games Corner, African Fashion Show, Dance & Traditional Musical Instrument Workshop. [More info]

May 13-May 17, 2009
Under co-patronage of the Embassy of Madagascar, the World Orchid 2009 will be held at the Romanticmura Botanical Garden, in Utsunomiya-City. Subtitled “Mysterious Orchid in Africa”, this event will present wide variety of beautiful orchids cultivated in the Kanto area and from overseas.

April 23-May 10, 2009
The 5th International Horticulture Goyang Korea 2009 will take place in Goyang City, Republic of Korea. It will draw participation of 80 companies from 25 countries and 130 local Korean companies. With the kind support of the RIEB (Research Institute of Evolutionary Biology) in Japan, and of Air Madagascar’s representative in Korea, the Embassy of Madagascar will hold a booth featuring endemic plants of Madagascar. March 20-22, 2009
During the three-day Tap Tokyo fund-raising campaign, customers of the 300 or so participating restaurants and cafés around Tokyo were invited to make donations to support UNICEF Madagascar’s WASH project on water and sanitation in the District of Vangaindrano, Madagascar. H.E. Mr. Jimmy Ramiandrison participated in the launching Press event at the Hibiya Park on March 18th.

March 21, 2009
The Embassy of Madagascar participated in the “Fete de la Francophonie” at the “Institut Franco-japonais” Tokyo, and presented to the public typical Malagasy dishes such as “Akoho sy Voanio” (Chicken in coconut sauce).

March 20, 2009
A Francophony Festival took place at the Hyogo Prefecture Guest House in Kobe for the Kansai region. Madagascar was represented at the event by two students in Kobe and Kyoto.

March 3 – 6, 2009
Succession LOPAT L.E was the sole representative of Madagascar to the FOODEX 2009 which is the Asia’s largest food show and 3rd biggest of its kind in the world. With the assistance of JETRO, the company was able to propose its products, mainly vanilla, cocoa, and spices to trade professionals of the Food and Beverage industry. The company officials were satisfied by the organization and the number of contacts established.

February 27, 2009
The Embassy hosted a Friendship Party for Madagascar with the members of the International Friendship Center. The guests enjoyed fine Malagasy dishes as well as the presentation and the show on Malagasy traditional costumes performed by the staff members and their families.

February 22, 2009
The Embassy of Madagascar participated in the World Dishes event, hosted by the International Kohoku Lounge in Yokohama. The Madagascar table presented the much-appreciated “Henakisoa sy Ravitoto” (Crushed Cassava Leaves with Pork meat).
