Networking reception between the diplomatic corps and future missionaries from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan was held on 31 January 2019 in Tokyo. The objective of the meeting was to introduce the future missionaries to the diplomats posted in Japan of the countries to which they will be assigned, before joining their respective posts for a duration of 3 years. The Ambassador of Madagascar, Mireille Mialy Rakotomalala, participated in the event and met the person who will be engaged in Madagascar. The assigned missionary on the Big Island will work in the field of agriculture and rice growing, knowing the importance of rice in the daily life of the Malagasy people. This project, which is part of the Official Development Assistance (ODA) of Japan to Madagascar, is part of the goal of achieving long-term food self-sufficiency in the country.Japan’s ODA program in Madagascar is partly concerned with protecting living species and raising awareness of environmental issues through education.
