Minister of Foreign Affairs Dovo Eloi Maxime, as well as his counterparts from the African continent, participated fully in the ministerial meeting of the Tokyo International Conference on Africa’s Development. This is a preparatory meeting for TICAD VII to be held from 28 to 30 August 2019 in Yokohama, Japan.
This meeting, co-organized by the Government of Japan and the United nations, the World Bank and the African Union Commission, brings together ministerial delegations from African Countries. On the spot, the minister had a bilateral meeting with his counterpart Taro Kano to further develop relations between the two Nations. At the meeting, the two Ministers reviewed the various cooperation projects, the international issues of common interest and the prospects for cooperation, particularly in the area of the blue economy and also maritime safety and Connectivity.
He also participated in a breakfast hosted by the Deputy Chief Secretary of the Cabinet of Prime Minister ABE, Mr. Nishimora. Japanese business leaders such as Toyota, Marubeni corporation, Chiyoda corporation, Nippon express, Kagome, Toshiba Corporation were present on this Occasion. The aim is to strengthen cooperation between Africa and these Companies. Other countries, other than Madagascar, have also honoured the meeting, like Kenya, egypt, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mozambique, Senegal and South Africa.
The meeting between the Minister for Foreign affairs, Dovo Eloi Maxime, and the president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Shinichi Kitaoka, is among the strengths of the presence of the Malagasy delegation in Japan in the context of The TICAD ministerial meeting. The Japanese development agency (JICA) accompanies, in fact, various development projects in Madagascar, both economically, agriculturally and socially. In addition, JICA also supports Malagasy technicians through the delivery of experts and study Assignments. Not to mention the sending of Japanese volunteers who are involved in the areas of rural development, education, public health, environmental protection and Sports. These main points were also mentioned during this meeting between the two Personalities.
