Courtesy visit by Mr Kurihara, president of Häagen-Dazs Japan

The ambassador received the President of Häagen-Dazs Japan and its executive director for a courtesy visit. Häagen-Dazs uses Madagascar’s vanilla – known for its quality and exceptional taste – for its ice creams and other products. The perspective of the 2020 Olympics will be a great opportunity for the development of this spice. Häagen-Dazs is an American brand of ice cream, established by Reuben and Rose Mattus in the Bronx, New York, in 1961. Starting with three flavors: vanilla, chocolate and coffee, the company opened its first store in Brooklyn, on November 15, 1976. The company now has franchises in the United States and many other countries around the world, including Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia, India, China, Lebanon, New Zealand and Brazil. The company also produces ice cream bars, ice cream cakes, sorbet, frozen yogurt and gelato. Tokyo, 14 November 2018
